Welcome to the Jewish Preschool on Sardis.  I am currently in my 5th year as the Director of JPS and am thrilled to work along side these  talented and dedicated women.  After 20+ years of working through four states  in early childhood, I  love having JPS as my ‘school home.’  I’ve worked as a classroom teacher for 2-5 year olds, consulted as an early childhood professional for other teachers and preschools, reviewed text books in the field and am currently adjunct faculty for an outstanding early childhood college program.   I earned my BS in Child Development and Elementary Education from Michigan State University and my MA in Teacher Leadership and Special Education  at Roosevelt University.  When I started at JPS, I earned my Level III Child Development Administration Certificate in North Carolina as well.  Currently, I’m 1/2 way through my MEd at UNCW as a student in Education Leadership, Advocacy and Policy in Early Childhood. Children are my passion, and making sure our school offers the best care and education is my professional goal.

On the personal side-my husband, Adam, and I are the proud parents of two incredible daughters (13 & 15) and we made our way to Charlotte over 6 years ago, after spending  15 years in Chicago.  We enjoy visiting our family and friends afar, as well as camping and hiking when we can.

I am so excited to begin my 6th school year at The Jewish Preschool on Sardis.  In my earlier career, I spent 15 years working in finance in NYC, then took time off to raise a family and have now found my new home at JPS. I truly enjoy being around such fun children, wonderful families and talented staff here at JPS!

My family, originally from New York City and then Boston, have now been here in Charlotte for 9 years.  I have a son Matt, who is studying to be a teacher and a daughter Sarah who  just entered Chapel Hill as a freshman this fall.

2014 marks my 25th year teaching here at The Jewish Preschool on Sardis and what a rewarding experience it has been. My goal is to create a warm, nurturing and loving environment, where children have the opportunity to learn, grow and play. Their journey begins in the classroom. Our room is set up to help children feel comfortable and confident, a place where they will feel safe, respected and part of our preschool community. As their teacher, I will support your child when taking risks, encourage curiosity and independence and foster an enthusiasm for learning through play. I treat each child as a unique individual, working from the level they have attained and moving forward one step at a time. I teach a love of learning, allowing children to experiment, discover and explore the world around them.

I am an alumna of Gardner Webb University where I receiving a BA degree and I've completed my Early Educator Certificate at a Level 10. My husband, Bowen, and I have one daughter, Brittany. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, including my church family at Matthews Murkland Presbyterian Church.

I am excited to begin my 8th year at The Jewish Preschool on Sardis.  My career in early childhood education began more than 20 years ago-first as a teacher’s assistant and later moving into an administrative position while we lived in Georgia.  I soon returned to the classroom as a paraprofessional for 6 years working with children with special needs ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade. Upon relocating to North Carolina I began actively pursuing my education in early childhood and saw that to fruition, graduating in May of this year, 2015.

I am a wife, mother of four children and grandmother to nine wonderful grandchildren.  I enjoy spending time with my family and doting on my grandchildren.  I also enjoy golfing with my husband, gardening, reading and cooking.

I look forward to a wonderful new school year with the children.  I consider it a privilege and pleasure to work with each child. It is my joy to watch each child learn and grow.

Judaica Teacher

As I begin my 14th year here at JPS I feel so fortunate to work with such wonderful and caring families and staff. Although I've had many roles at JPS as a lead teacher and a Judaica teacher, this year, I’m thrilled to teach Judaica to every group of students in our school. In some capacity each child at JPS will come to Judaica every day for prayers, songs, circle time, games and dramatic play. Even the infants will join us for prayers and songs when their napping and eating schedule allows.

As a teacher, my goal is provide a warm, nurturing, encouraging and safe environment filled with just enough excitement, fun and challenge to develop each child’s self esteem. It's the seeds we plant now that one day will grow deep roots of pride and joy in our heritage and I hope that each child will leave this school year feeling great about who they are as a Jewish child.

I have a BA in Communication Journalism from the University of Louisville. In my former life, I was a journalist and editor for the Orlando Business Journal. Realizing that wasn’t my true calling, I became a certified instructor of self-rescue swimming skills for infants and young children called Infant Swimming Resource. I’ve taught ISR lessons for 23 years now, but that led me to teaching pre- school-my true passion. I began teaching 17 years ago at a Jewish preschool in Kentucky. When I moved to Charlotte in 2001, I quickly found JPS and began my career here. My husband Alvin and I have been married for 27 years. We have a 24 year old son, Eran, who works in Charlotte at Wells Fargo. Our daughter, Cailey, is 20 years old and is studying Early Childhood Education and will also be working at JPS in our extended day program.

We now reside in Pineville, NC with our dog Princess Mia and cat Sirius Black. We enjoy spending time with our family camping in the mountains and making trips to the beach.

Back for my 3rd year at JPS, I am thrilled to be working with the incredible staff here at The Jewish Preschool on Sardis. While I have always had a love for children, my real passion is instilling a solid foundation and a love for learning in their most formative years. I feel privileged to be a part of a team that shares this similar passion.

We moved to Charlotte three years ago from Ellicott City, MD. I am the mother of three amazing children. My oldest daughter is currently a sophomore at Elon University in their Communications Honors Program. My son is a sophomore at Providence High School and my youngest daughter is in 5th grade at Elizabeth Lane Elementary School.

I graduated from Cabrini College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. In my free time, I enjoy reading, exercising, baking and spending time with my family.

Welcome to  The Jewish Preschool on Sardis!  Now entering my 17th year at JPS, I am delighted to be back and ready for an exciting year.  I was educated in Europe and England and worked in Germany for four years as a Nanny.  We were transferred to Reston Virginia in 1981.  Once in  the States, I began my career in Early Childhood Education, working in a Preschool in Sterling, VA and loved it. We were transferred to Charlotte in 1995 and after settling in, I found the Jewish Preschool on Sardis and the rest is history. The smiles and hugs top my list as the best part of my job.  I enjoy watching them learn a new task, share, and develop friendships.

I hold an Early Childhood and Early Educator Certification and am consistently furthering my education through workshops and classes to enhance the classroom learning environment.

My husband, Roy, and I are ‘empty nesters’ as our three children live out of state; VA, GA, FL.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, gardening and cooking.

Hello JPS families. My name is Jane Lee and I am so excited to be a part of the JPS family. I can't wait to meet and learn about all of the children along with their families. Lead Infant Teacher-Morning

My career started after I graduated from Appalachian State University in 1994 with a BS in Early Childhood Development. Since then, I have been a teacher in just about every classroom/age group, was a Mothers’ Morning Out Preschool Director and an Assistant Preschool Director for a corporate preschool. My favorite classroom, the one that truly touches my soul, is the infant room. They are developing and changing each and every day. From trying to lift their heads, rolling over, sitting up by themselves, starting to crawl and move around and then taking their first steps!

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my beautiful daughter Ava (12yo), my fiancée Brian and his son Nathan (8yo), as well as my rescue dog, Lucy. Why did I choose this profession? I want to make a difference in the life of a young child.

Lead Infant Teacher-Afternoon

I am a mother of 2 daughters, have experience as an Executive Secretary, experience in hospital administration, and kinesiology.

But my real love is children. I am patient and caring. I love music dancing, and creating fun. A couple of years ago I finished my degree in Education. I found my way to JPS while doing my student teaching and have been here since. To teach love, you have to give love—and that’s what all babies (our future leaders) need.

I am very excited to continue working with your children at JPS. I enjoyed my first summer here as a camp counselor and will continue this fall as an extended day teacher. I look forward to working with your children and continuing the excellent education they receive in the morning into the afternoon hours. I love coming to work every day knowing I'll be able to make a difference in children's lives and I hope that is evident as I become a part of the JPS family.

I am currently studying Early Childhood Education at CPCC and I have completed my credentials to be a NC certified Early Childhood teacher. I attended the Charlotte Jewish Day School and Providence High School and plan to continue my studies with a BA in Early Childhood Education with a goal to become an Occupational Therapist, when I earn my Master's degree.
